I have an 8 year reserve contract, but I plan on going active after I finish college. What options do I have?

Any interest in becoming an officer? If your school has an ROTC program, I suggest going and talking to one of the military science professors or department head.

I believe there is a mechanism for that. CPT Ian Roth might be able to shed some light on it now that I've summoned him by name.

As I understand it, you'll have the choice? You need two years of college to go that route. Even if you don't, you still have the option of going to OCS after graduation. Find an officer recruiter and ask.

CPT Ian Roth - Everyone gets out of their enlistment contract when they commission. My understanding of the current rules for ROTC is that he could apply of a guaranteed RC slot, or compete for AD slots if he prefers. Either way, since he already has an MOS, he can skip the first two years of ROTC and go in as a Junior. I would also recommend that he should stay in his RC unit as an SMP. No lost of TIS taking that route.

Keep doing your best. Enroll in ROTC after you get your commission you can get that active duty you want, provided you made it high enough on the OML( Order of Merit List) to get selected for active duty.
