I know in the Navy you have to remember to breath in and to breath out, then repeat.

OK, even though I did my time as a butter bar, that's pretty funny.

Graduate from your basic officer leader course (unless exempt for an educational delay or similar) and not be flagged, ie pass your PT test. Also lack of an OER that says "do not retain"

Also remember the AD, USAR, and ARNG all handle promotions and selections differently.

What are all the requirements not including TIG to make 1LT?

Since you are Army, you must complete you A-school (fully qualified) not have any holds like a bad PT test or failing to make weight , and not have a really bad OER. Oh, and you are required to have a slot.

There are no 2LT slots in the Army (or military as far as I know) They are all coded as 1LT.

The other comments on schooling are correct so no need to reiterate them. However if you have ever been flagged for disciplinary action your promotion may be delayed and a case presented to the board to see if you will retain an additional rank or be asked to leave. Don't get any gomors or article 15s.

LT - I admit I haven't been in the Army a long, long time...but I've never heard of an officer getting an Article 15. The "bad thing" when I was in was an Article 32. But, I haven't seen a current UCMJ in ages.....

You must be from another generation then. LTs can and have gotten article 15s in my lifetime. I never heard of them getting a 32 though.
