I picked up a relative at the airport last night, but we went home instead of the normal trip up The Strip we normally take visitors. Wife had good chow and we just went straight home.
We do have Nellis AFB that is close to the Strip.
I tagged this terrorism but it is unknown at this time. Just thinking of our airman who are locals in Las Vegas.

I had several friends and family members shot, non life threatening. I visited families and friends in the hospital today....not recommended. One frantic phone call during it all. I did find out today that several veterans were killed. My non profit started a go fund me account to assist with medical and funeral expenses and other costs. I can post it if you would like to help.

I hope they will all be well. Someone from this area of NW TN was killed while shielding his wife. I believe she was a sports medicine type that worked with some teams in the area and he was a nurse. Tragic deaths and injuries all.

They found at least 2 bump stock mods on AR's in his room. They are more effective than the Gat Crank type devices which go for around $40. These range from $139 to $259 but we can expect authorities to be looking at them closely after this shooting. This guy was off the radar and hadn't even had a parking ticket. They found ammonium nitrate in his car and besides the guns in his room found a lot of things at his residence. I hope the injured survive and am saddened for the families of those killed in this senseless shooting.

CWO3 (Join to see) - An interesting bullet point at the top of the CNBC article shows how inept that some reporters and their sources can be. See below:
The devices could have converted semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic ones, officials said.
A semi-automatic weapon requires one trigger pull for each round fired. With a fully automatic firearm, one trigger pull can unleash continuous rounds until the magazine is empty.

A bump stock device does not make the weapon an automatic weapon. What it really does (and why they are currently legal) is that it assist the individual in actuating the trigger multiple times in rapid succession. Adding a spring to the device may make it illegal, but it still requires the trigger to be actuated for each round fired, but it still does not make it a machine gun by the definition as used by the ATF.

For the purposes of the National Firearms Act the term Machinegun means:
1. Any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger

2. The frame or receiver of any such weapon

3. Any part designed and intended solely and exclusively or combination of parts designed and intended for use in converting a weapon into a machinegun, or

4. Any combination of parts from which a machinegun can be assembled if such parts are in the possession or under the control of a person.
(Numbers added by me for clarification. Note 1 and 2, and the specifics of: by a single function of the trigger.)

CWO3 (Join to see) - From the CNBC article:
"Two officials familiar with the investigation told the AP that Paddock had two bump stocks. They are investigating whether those stocks were used to modify weapons used in the massacre, according to the officials, who were briefed by law enforcement and spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is still unfolding."
Note that it says that they are 'still' investigating whether those stocks were used to modify weapons used in the massacre. Also note that this came from a secondary source: "...according to officials, who were briefed by law enforcement..."; not a primary source.
