Gov. Scott Walker has signed a bill that makes lying about military service a crime.

The Republican bill makes falsely claiming military service or a military award a misdemeanor punishable by up to nine months in jail and $10,000 in fines.

If someone makes those claims intending to commit or aid another crime he or she would be guilty of a felony punishable by up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

Walker signed the bill Wednesday.

The Assembly passed the measure in April. The Senate followed suit in May.

With people claiming their insides feel like the opposite biological gender that they were born and is supporting that we may as well allow stolen valor and treading on our constitutional rights and communism. Let's be real about the state our country is in. I'm surprised people even join the military anymore.

I'm glad it is finally illegal to claim military service if you have never rightfully worn the uniform or actually served in any branch.

This is much needed these days. Too many people trying to get unearned respect. Playing on the heart strings & sympathy from honest, hard working people.

Most of these people have mental health issues. They're not bothering any of us. It doesn't affect me wether someone dresses up in a fake uniform/costume.

The only good thing Walker has done to date, but good for him. I hope Minnesota follows suit soon. I have a D-bag at work that deserves many fines.

I am glad for this finally happening. Now, does this cover every state or just this Gov. Scott Walkers state?
