The forces for good got a little rest so far this weekend, but not in Texas where 72-year-old was struck in the face with a gas can by an intruder. He took the only option he had at that point;

Dietz said he woke up around 8:30 a.m. Friday and noticed his surveillance cameras weren’t working.

“I got up this morning and checked the monitor on the cameras and noticed I couldn’t see anything,” Dietz said.

He went outside to check the cameras and found a man inside the back of his storage unit, just feet from his front door.
“I asked him what he was doing in there and he said he was just looking around,” Dietz said.

He called 911 but the robber wasn’t going away without a fight.

Dietz managed to pull out his gun and fired at least one shot, hitting the suspect in the stomach. The robber fled but was eventually caught and taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery.

“When you are doing bad, bad things happen to you,” neighbor Monica Tristan said.
Like I said, us old guys can’t fight back, so we shoot.

I'm thankful there is still a place where you can defend yourself, and not be concidered "In the wrong." Thankful he was able to protect himself and property.

LCpl Mark Lefler, Why do think that? I'm not obsessed. I'm prepared. There's so much crime in Houston right now, the crooks aren't afraid to shoot anyone, including The Police. They can't be everywhere, so I protect myself and wife.

it just seems like 1/2 the discussions revolve around firearms rights. I know its important, I'm not putting that fact down.

Yeah, it seems to lead to that. Some states are trying to play catch up with Texas and Florida. Thus, a discussion about it. OK, all you other states, hit me with your best shot. Lol

SPC Jan Allbright, M.Sc., R.S., yep that Texas. Those gangs graduated fro chains and knives, to guns. That's the first gunfight I heard about in a while between rival gangs. I suppose there aren't any gangs where you live.

I believe in "stand your ground". Every man deserves the peace of his own place and if someone tries to take that peace within your own place I believe you have a right to defend it at what ever level it comes to.

MSgt Brian Welch , that's my belief also. That's why I so many weapons. Besides hunting, I don't want to become the hunted in my own home.

Been to Texas for training twice. Also visited a few times. I have a couple of cousin who live there. As for me I didn't leave anything that requires return.

Way to many politics in Texas. If republicans had it their way without 3rd parties being involved, it would be a little different.
