If you have Tricare you'll be good to go. Hell just being Military, you're good to go.

I don't have Tricare. I am a veteran with 60% disability. It really sucks driving almost an hour to the Emergency Department in Raleigh Durham VA for something like a sore throat! Ugh :(

Well that sucks for sure. Until you get it resolved, remember you can claim travel pay. I know that doesn't help your situation but at least you'll get your gas money for the trip. Have you talked with anyone from the VA. I know here in San Antonio there is One hospital, one large clinic and a few small ones that are in a suite in a random building. You should ask if they have anything like that in your area for non-emergencies. Good luck to you Brother.

Talk to your primary care provider concerning options. If you get sick, call the telephone care line, explain your medical complaint and if they tell you to go to Raleigh, ask for alternatives.
The Urgent Care program is with contracted companies and they are making additional contracts all the time, but if the VA doesn't have a contract with the one you go to, they aren't going to pay unless it's related to your disabling condition.
