Does anyone have any insight on 593 ESC over in JBLM? How is the day-to-day life being an 88M?

You’ll either go to 523ctc, 21ictc or 513th TC. Hopefully you go to 523. They have a more relaxed mission focused tempo. I’m about to leave 513th and there’s something off about the company. It’s one of the last line haul units and the misions are few and far in between so it’s a lot of idle motor pool type of days. Micromanaging and making sure a line is straight to the degree type. When missions do finally come rolling down most are in conjunction with 21st which means it’s going to be a long day waiting for their support to show up if it does. There’s a heavy focus on mrt, sharp and eo training with very little on convoy elements, driving, and overall soldiering. Ltt is normally never combat focused except for once in a blue moon and we are going on year 3 of no field. The unit has a funnel placed to gab people to mobilize soon. As a e4 in general you’ll be seen as a spc who they can blame for soldiers mistakes. The ncos are a tight knit community and typically have each others back vs stepping on eachother tho. The soldiers are stuck in a relaxed mindset so it can be frustrating coming from somewhere else or you’ll get a frustrated soldier coming from another unit because how things operate. A lot of the new soldiers coming from korea have stated they wish to go back to korea over being here. The base has a lot to do and surrounding area has a lot to offer when it’s not raining which is almost always. There’s beautiful off road running paths and hiking. The base is split in two so if you are married I suggest putting in for housing on north fort.

Trent is the 513th still tractor trailers? Also do they still share a motor pool with the 497th Trans Co? I served in both of them. The 497th were 5 ton cargo and oil platforms with very little to do. Most of us worked out of the TMP. I drove sedans for VIP visits, 44-passenger busses, cattle cars and civilian tractor trailers, mostly up to Yakama Training Center and back. Love the 497th but you’re right about the 513th. Very little to do so it was police call and turn the gravel over so the sun could get the underside of them dry. I ended up going to work my last year I was in the 513th to be a shift leader at the Correctional Custody Facility. But I did get my time as a Plt Sgt in the 513th.

To what units can an 88M be assigned at JBLM? What is the day to day like? | RallyPoint
Curious what units an 88M at JBLM could be assigned to and what the day to day is. I've heard of 88M getting stationed there and not even doing 88M related tasks. Thanks!

You probably be a assigned to a Transportation Company, garrison unit, no mission. Performing maintenance on your vehicle.
