I'm the Senior Cook for an FSC that supports a CAB. We face an XCTC this summer and a rotation at NTC the next. Our section is understrength. I have an opportunity to transfer to a unit that will deploy, and I would be taking the Senior Cook position supervising a number of cooks. I feel it would greatly benefit my career as the nature of the deployment requires Field feeding. That real time experience is rare. I question the ethics of the decision. I have great opportunity where I am with XCTC and NTC, I have great opportunity there with deployment. Do I leave an understrength unit or not? Also I have been in this for my entire career so far.

Deployment opportunity without a second thought, easier to replace someone back here in the states than getting someone willing to deploy

SFC (Join to see), loyalty is a wonderful thing, but it can go too far. Sometimes you gotta look out for #1 as well, and your "disloyal" (big quotes, sarcastic) option benefits the Army almost more than your XCTC/NCTC option. In the grand scheme of things, you are doing the Army a favor by taking the deployment. So it works to your advantage as well ... double bonus!
Also, remember that nobody is irreplaceable. By moving you might be giving someone else an opportunity to move up in their career.
I guess you know what I'd recommend ...
