Ventura was never a SEAL, though he wears the Trident. He was a UDT Frogman. There is a difference. The fraternity would probably call Jesse out on it if he weren't a celebrity.

Don Knotts or Barney Fire of the Andy Griffith Show served in the Armed Forces as well... George W. Bush was a pilot in the Air National Guard, Drew Carrey was a Marine... And others already mentioned.

Add to this list:
Robert "Bob" Keeshan, aka Captain Kangaroo - WWII
Fred Rogers, aka Mr. Rogers - WWII
They actually served together.
Don't recall seeing James Doohan, aka Montgomery Scotty (Star Trek) - WWII

Unless you were a total shitbird. Everyone who served has shown more loyalty than over 80% of the U.S population. This doesn't include the unfortunates who were still denied citizenship after serving in the military died while on active duty or bounced out the US a after their service. So about 17% of the roughly 321.5 million people in then US have never served in the military. Less than 10% of federally elected officials have never served. So WTF? I'm not tooting my own horn I only did 7 years before moving on to law enforcement. I'm tooting the horn for the 17% or 54.5 million who did serve. I guess we should be happy that a lot of the remaining 267 million didn't serve because a lot of them are FUBAR

The citizenship clause in the contract says upon completion of full enlistment. If they are discharged before, or die before end of full enlistment then the citizenship deal is off. There is no "screwing" going on with it. If they don't like the offer, they can walk away before signing the enlistment contract.

My father David Kuhl, US Air Force Korean conflict, father-in-law Frank Haire, US Navy WWII, and my son David Haire US Army, just returned from Quatar. I am extremely proud of my family's involvement in service to our country.
