Kristofferson was the youngest prof at West Point, a Major at the time. He was a "super trooper" and 4 stars were definitely in his Army future. But he turned his back on it all and chose to become a hippie. He stated more than once that his time in the Army was a complete waste of those years of his life. I do not know if he has since repented. If he hasn't then he deserves no recognition.

I could be wrong, but I think I heard somewhere that "Ice T" from the TV show Law & Order was in the Army.

Christine Jorgensen served in the U.S. Army during WWII. She is a hero and Celebrity for those of us who served in the Military and later came out as Transgender. Another person I look up to is CPO Kristen Beck (retired), U.S. Navy SEALS.

As the Legend goes BG Jimmy Stewart shagged a ride during The Vietnam War. They were not scheduled to fly over country but the story goes that they were diverted and he was in harms way. The higher brass had a cow as I heard the story.
