As today marks the 200th Birthday of our National Anthem, take a moment to reflect on it. If you have children or grandchildren, make sure they know the words and, more importantly, the meaning.

It can be argued that the Roman Empire fell due to their support of the dole system (welfare). Once they quit conquering territory and lead a life of defense (building walls and forts to secure borders) their treasury depleted more and more. They lacked funds for up keeping the roads and waterways and eventually succumbed to invading neighbors.....hmmm.

As SFC Merino stated, it was an English tune....and a Drinking song as well!! I had to learn the words in History Class long ago....I mean long ago...
