I figured we, as in the gaming section of RP, could do a little gaming trivia. Ask questions about games, and see how many people know the answer. While this is the internet, and we can't stop you from "Google-ing" an answer, see how much you may or may not know! You may also learn new things about some of the games you have played!

ANSWER!

It's been a couple days to give everyone a chance to answer. Not sure how long we should let a question like this last before being answered.

Protoman is the First Robot created by Dr. Light. His Energy Core was designed to absorb Solar Rays, but there was a flaw. Dr. Light tried to repair it, but fearing that the repairs would alter his personality; Protoman ran away.
Enter Dr. Wily who finds Protoman dying as his Energy Core is nearly depleted. He repairs Protoman, changes his core to a nuclear one, and gives him his trademark shield to protect his weaker body. Dr. Wily reverse engineers Dr. Light's work based on Protoman. This knowledge allows him to create all the wonderful enemies we know and love from the Mega-Man games.
As a sign of gratitude Protoman helps Dr. Wily. To hide his identity he dawns a helmet and visor, which much like his shield have become staples of his character.

To be honest. I was under the assumption that Protoman was killed in "Megaman and Bass". I mean, he was literally cut in half. But I actually never finished the game. Apparently, he gets repaired and comes back to help out.
and then... apparently plays a minor role in Mega-Man 9 and has his own version of the story in Mega-Man 10. (Both of which I haven't played)

So, there you have it. That is who Protoman is!

P.S. his first appearance in a game is Mega-Man 3.
