SWCC to make 3 separate warfare insignias - Basic, Senior, and Master - is this the right way forward?

SWCC is a brotherhood. Should there be distinctions?
Approval for the replacement of the Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewman (SWCC) insignia. Going forward, there will be three separate insignias to denote a Sailor's specific qualification level, which are SWCC basic, SWCC senior and SWCC master. The implementation date is Aug. 19, 2016, with a mandatory wear date of Oct. 1, 2016.

As far as I know, the pins represent training quals, not anything else. So therefore, no. It shouldn't be a single pin like SEALs. Since unlike SEALs...SWCC Officers and enlisted actually go thru different training last I heard

PO3 John Keas there are no Officers in SWCC (there are CWOs from time to time, but they come from enlisted SWCC, and they are harder to find). But there are no full-fledged officers.

I've always wondered why SWCC doesn't get gold pins like the SEALS do -- the only pin, if I'm not mistaken, that enlisted and officers share the gold. SWCC training is focused differently than SEALS, but I don't think you'll find many SEALs that won't call them badass.

SN Greg Wright there are several gold pins the enlisted and Officers share. Jump wings for one. Aviation has gold warfare insignias as well. However, the Silver Trident was abolished many years ago as Commissioned and Enlisted SEALs attend identical training and are seen as brothers. There is a distention between the Officer and an Enlisted communities, however a SEAL is a SEAL - brothers before all else.

Yes, SEALS have all gold, the difference is SWCC guys do not go through BUDS, they go through some hard shit but just enlisted as the officers are SEALS and that is why they don't have gold. As for the respect well they are called boat guys and our CSSD guys get more respect from some of the SEALs. Was down range with a team and they had a SWCC det my guys got more respect from the operators than the SWCC guys did.

Just curious, why do some who wear the Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare Specialist badge think they are bad ass like SWCC or seals?

PO1 John Miller - FMF, They do have to go through SOI though now, the instruction changed some, they also have to be assigned not attached like we had to be when some of our guys earned the device.

A lot of Bees I knew HATED being called Sailor and Shipmate. To them I said "Tough titty. You're not in the Sea Bees, you're in the United States Navy." For that matter, a lot of non-fleet rates hated the term Sailor and Shipmate.

I do believe that Chaplains don't go through a modified SOI though, since they are fully non-combatants. Hence the reason there is the Chaplain version of the Officer's FMF device. I also believe that an FMF-qualified Chaps is called "Fleet Marine Force Qualified" versus "Fleet Marine Force Warfare qualified."

PO1 John Miller - They can go through portions to understand how to move in the field, but yes they go through some special type. We had a CHAPS earn SCWS, they just waived all the weapons portions of the qualification and employment of weapons systems. We also had our CHAPS in Iraq receive a CAR and Bronze star, they just can not handle weapons, that is all.
