My company is allowing us to dress for Halloween this Friday. Would it be wrong or aginst regulations if I were to wear my ACU's?

Obviously I ruffled some feathers out in RP land with this question. Just to clarify, I'm not doing it, I thought about it and figured it wouldn't be very wise for a new NCO.....

Why would an NCO even want to wear that on Halloween is the better question.

I think it’s a lame costume, especially if it’s an actual soldier wearing it. It’s a little different if a spouse wants to wear her husband’s uniform as a costume, but even then still a little lame. Also, how are you between a rock and a hard place? Is someone making you wear the uniform to your civilian job?
If anything, wear an Air Force uniform. They pretend to be in the military every day.
Just kidding, AF. Don’t chew my head off.

They're your ACUs. You paid for them and technically you aren't on active status so the Army really can't tell you what to do.
Having said all that, its not really a Halloween costume.

SGT Curtis Earl , SGT Neil Chandler is a Army Reservist, so yes, the Army most certainly tell him what to do when it comes to the uniform. Sgt Chandler, ask your unit 1st Sgt opinion on that and go with what he says (I believe he will confirm my opinion).

1stSgt (Join to see) - USAR soldiers are not subject to UCMJ unless they're on IDT status or on some form of orders. While it's nice to talk to your 1SG for advice, ultimately his power over me ended when I signed out of battle assembly and I was released. After being released, I'm Curtis and you're . At that point I am a civilian. I've had 1SGs and COs that thought they could push me while outside of duty status and they were all wrong. You want to order me around? Put me on orders and pay me. I will not work for you for free. Now does that make me look like an ass? Yes. Am I subject to their reprisals when on duty? Yup. But senior service members always push the limits on their power.
Personally, I would not wear my uniform - especially my ACUs - to a company get together. It's not a costume. No one can stop you, but I'd say don't do it.

SGT Bryon Sergent
SGT Curtis Earl - you are in correct Good Sergeant. Most states have change some of the verbiage to fit the RC but has adopted it almost verbatim. Depending on the act or the crime you can be hit with the bad conduct discharge by being in violation of the UCMJ. You may not serve time for it but can loose everything you have worked for on a BCD! Lets say rape for instance. You wont go in front of JAG but if charged and convicted in civilian court could get the BCD with it.

You dress up in a uniform 5-6 days a week as it is. I'm all for pride in what you do but for fucks sake go but a normal costume.

I am not sure about your question because in my unit there are soldiers who do not get home to change and they hang around in their acu s. My son loves the military and he wore some of my old acu s to the Halloween party, I am not sure are you saying the acu s are your costume?
