It was interesting to learn that Mr Gulen seems to be that elusive Moderate Muslim everyone has searched for. Not backing him sure would go contrary to that.

SPC Kirk Gilles - Agreed. Meanwhile Erdogan is playing both sides with ISIS. Letting us use bases to launch airstrikes, while him and his son get a cut of ISIS oil crossing the Turkish border.

Hell no. Unless they have tangible proof that he did something he should stay in the United States. I hope the president show some cojones in this matter. The United States should not be bullied, especially by the likes of Turkey.

So tell me something please, was this question phrased in a politically neutral way or no?
I ask because I get hammered every time I type Obama or Adminstration etc. Both sides hit with both barrels.

1LT (Join to see) - Would it be worth sending him back if they corner our 2k Troops there including US nuclear weapons storage? They killed the power and luckily our military there is supplying it's own power for now.

What are going to do, kill our soldiers and start a war with United States? We must hold onto our principles. We don't give in to demands of nations because they say so. We have a process for extradition and must follow at all cost. Our troops can hold their own. We have plenty of troops in Germany that can respond if turkey does anything stupid.

No way SPC Kirk Gilles
Extraditing somebody who escaped from a radical Islamic government in 1999 who has lived peacefully here since should never be extradited back to Turkey.

American Thinker? May I suggest reading something this isn't completely and totally skewed? There are plenty of history websites out there.

No! Erdogan wants a Sacrificial Lamb and if he got that one we would really have a problem on our hands. Gulen is Pretty Much the leading Philosopher for that Community. He would be the Obi One Kanobi "Strike me Down and I will rise up even more Powerful". That is the Kind of Martyr you don't want. I've read quite a bit of Gulen's work and some really amazing things he has written.

Not going to happen. It would like sending him to a Firing Squad.

For what? Because an individual with dictatorial ambitions claims Gulen spoke out against him?

Yes. Which led to the Turkish President demanding his arrest and return. Kerry responded by describing the process needed to respond to that request.

And I believe the process he stated involves Turkey actually proving that Gulen had something to do with inciting the overthrow of the democratic government, which is a little bit more than Erdogan just saying "give me back my enemy". At the point it becomes more a question of, do we harbor individuals who promote the military overthrow of foreign governments and at that point the answer probably starts shifting towards send him back.

Why exactly would Obama or any other President sent him back? Other than escaping a certain death, what has he done wrong?

I'm not making any commentary. Erdrogan demanded it today. Sec Kerry said he can submit the paperwork to extradite for review. So the WH, State, and Justice would have a say in it. Erdrogon blames Gulen for instigating the coup from his place in PA, USA.

SPC Kirk Gilles - Kerry is an idiot...and he's a liar just like Clinton is...like when she lied about landing under gunfire, he lied about his time in Vietnam...these people are caught red handed...but sweep it under the table as if it's nothing and go on...OKAY, I digress....Kerry should not even consider it....and besides, where is Erdrogon's proof? it' the first thing Kerry should have asked for instead of...well, okay gee, let me get the paperwork started.

Very difficult question, Erdogan has been recognized as democratically elected though he is pushing Turkey towards Islam and away from secularism. Blackmailing the EU...these questions are very complex and multi-faceted and we need simple answers. IMHO I'd say no, he represents Western ideologies.
