Mixed feelings. I understand the government's desire for the land but I am not in favor of the government taking people's land by force.

Ahhh, emminant and superior domain. And fact is, cities, counties, states and the fed can do it. And they will. The family is asking for the moon, and won't get it (I think they are really over valuating mineral rights). Expect a court ordered settlement, 7-10 million.

Yes it is wrong...unfortunately I met a lot of veterans who voted for Obama. It's sad to vote in someone who stands for the very thing I served against for 28 years.

Oh hell no! They got enough land as it is. Sounds more like more liberal run amok and a government land grab. Not only that but this is confiscation and the privacy concerns of that area is wrong.

Let em keep the land just accidentally drops some mk-82's on it and offer them to buy he crater.
In all seriousness if the owners are not using it I think they may lose in the gov may move to land abandonment proceedings. If they were smart they would just take the money. Typical greed of Vegas. They just want to squeeze the gov for more money to split amongst the 20.

Feel for them but they will probably ultimately end up loosing.....have had many a friend or family member run into the same thing....you can either take the initial offer, counter and hope the Government agrees, or hang on a pray they just don't evict you in the name of the common good.
