When I lead PT I love to show the soldiers that I can perform the exercises as well. However, there is a certain NCO in my unit that never performs any of the exercises when it's his turn to lead it. Am I just being too Hooah, or is he is in the wrong. Sorry, but this bothers me.

As I was taught at ALC and reinforced at SLC, the instructor performs the exercises in mirror-wise fashion while the assistant instructor should move through the ranks helping individuals with proper form. (During the Preparatory and Recovery Drills). If the instructor is running exercise drills such as a circuit or running drills such as 30-60-90s, it is recommended that they participate as much as possible while still maintaining control over the event. I have seen the instructor and AI switch off during the running exercises to allow each to get some of a work out. During military movement drills, the instructor does the drills along with the last rank.

SFC, I have a question. It’s been a while since I’ve graduated ALC and I searched but could not find an answer but do the Assistant Instrucor for PT also mirror just like the Primary Instructor when standing in front of the formation beside the Primary instructor when not walking around making corrections ?

Also when the primary instructor gets up and goes to attention and calls the rest of the formation to “Starting position move” does the Assistant Instructor get up when the PI gets up or when he tells the rest of the formation to go to the starting position?
