I am competing with three other service members on the 11th of this month. I have just read over a new message about the Service Star authorization for the GWOT Expeditionary Medal some of us wear. This message came out on Febuary 9th of this year.
I know it is a compitition but I want to set the others up for success(for some reason...lol) question is...Should I tell the other competitors or let them find it the way I did?

Each service will publish their own Maradmin, Navbul etc on proper wear etc. So, even though it may be authorized for one service, it may not be authorized for all at the same time.
So, double check to ensure you are authorized to wear it (Army message), and not just the DoD announcement, first.

Unless there is an Army message, don't trust it. Keep in mind that sometimes regulations have to catch up because of higher policy shifts. Things like making sure you have matching award dates for each of those new stars annotated. Before, when you "just got it" it didn't matter, now, each award has to be tied to a specific date range & operation, two of which are ongoing.
Also, wouldn't you rather be the one to say "The Army Bulletin hasn't been released which authorizes me to wear stars" and have someone else look like a jacknut.

Agreed. I would rather rock what I have earned than wear something I am not authorized...Thanks
