If you could choose to serve for any leader(s), past or present, who would you want it (them) to be? Why would you want to serve for him or her (them)?

For my leadership, I chose to focus on the CO aspect of it.
Commander: Capt. Mattison
1SG: SFC Green
PSG: SFC Shapiro

The CO and 1SG I served under while deployed and I couldn't ask for better leaders. They fostered the most positive work environment I have ever seen. For PSG, I serve under him know, and he challenges me on a daily basis. I have learned more in the 90 days under him than I have in the last 2 years.

It says senior leadership but I'm putting a creative spin on it and listing men I'd like to work directly under. I know that the men I mention are from different branches and they may have been known for actions in other ranks but hey, its my dream team.

Company Commander: Captain Richard "Dick" Winters.
First Sergeant: Daniel Daly.
Platoon Leader: Lieutenant Audie Murphy.

Platoon Sergeant: Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone.

Squad Leader: Staff Sergeant Shawn Greenberg.

SFC I think they are the epitome of combat leadership. All of them exemplified self sacrifice in one way or another and all of them served as role models for their subordinates.

For me it would be George Washington and Dwight Eisenhower.

Both were soldiers and respectable statesmen that understood the importance of military and civilian balance. I believe today we have our military as it is today because of them!

Do you think Washington would do well in today's military?
