No this could lead to something far worse than what happened yesterday in Syria just to keep Assad on his throne.. Russian Airstrikes could easily cause casualties among our troops & then what will Obama do?? Draw another Red Line?? Or just badmouth Putin again??

Does anyone think Putin will care if we or anyone else complains about civilian casualties? Action takes precedence over Academics. When this is all said and done, once again we will see how incompetent the administration advisors and statesmen/women really are. Iran and Russia will "own" Syria.

Sgt Kelli Mays - You can predict what they will do based on past behavior. Ukraine would be a prime example. Assad will stay in power managed by Putin with the able assistance of our new treaty member Iran. No phony red lines, they will kill off all those that we were trying to support and expand their influence in the Middle East. Calm will be restored through the use of expanded growth in grave yards plots.

Taking out Syria gives the russians another avenue into the Mediterranean Sea. With Assad gone, they can easily install a puppet and you will see a russian naval base on the coast of Syria. They wouldn't be there without a long term strategic goal.

SFC James Sczymanski - I agree, Assad could easily be a puppet.

Russia carries out air stike on Syria. 36 civilians killed. Do you think this was the right thing to do and is it worth the it?

This is a powder keg waiting to happen. We need to really reevaluate our stance on this whole thing because one misstep will have deadly consequences for us all.

The U. S. has abdicated our leadership role in the region and now the Russians are stepping in to fill the void. The Russians have a much looser ROI than we do, and have different aims as well. The Russian goal is to prop up the Assad regime, not fight ISIS; the first targets they hit were the Syrian rebels we are backing, albeit ineffectively.
