I would like to see RP add capabilities where post-service professionals can collaborate on doing business together. Currently there is a heavy focus on recruiting and networking to find old shipmates. Not that these are bad capabilities, but I want a trusted community where I can seek professional partnerships, vendors I can trust because they share a common prior military bond, even get opinions on products and features.

For example - Industry-based collaboration, topics, and "Seeking"-"Have" match up:
- Government Contracting
- Software Development
- Telecommunications
- Aviation
- Facilities Maintenance
- Energy
- Securities
- Real Estate
- Banking
- Semi-Conductors
- Media
- Art and Music
(lots of additional domains and sub-domains can come along)

I wouldn't mind marketing from prior service members if there was a way to evaluate the services and share successes. Our unique qualifications as former service members and military professionals should make it easier to find business partners who "get" your business, professional, or personal needs.

LT Brent Williams I think we have to accept that RallyPoint is still in it's infancy stage. Over time and growing pains I'm confident RP will evolve in many different facets that will benefit the members in a variety of ways. Some of your ideas may be able to see fruition with more leg work and research.
Suggestions to improve the site are always looked at and examined for potential. If you have ideas and a way to move forward on this, Email the administration with the outline. I can honestly say they have always been receptive.

Sir in talking with RP admin there are new features coming that will allow groups to be formed and users can follow that groups topics. Much more is coming.

Glad to hear, but some of this needs to be guided, and not free form. Free form groups are useful, but also hard to structure and wade through.
1. We should be able to post companies and what they do...so folks looking for a company with certain skills and a history of prior military experience can take advantage of it. While I am not a government contractor, I was earlier in my career, and when I am bidding on a deal, I would like to find similarly minded companies with deep skills in a related field.
2. Need an exchange capability. Company has these goods or services, Company has these needs. These should be grouped by functional area and have tagging.
3. Need a trust and evaluation section. Once you have partnered or collaborated, provide a way to evaluate.
4. If I can find a vet (especially disabled) selling goods or services that I need, I will shift my business (personal or professional).
5. If I can find a charitable activity that is focused on this community, I am more likely to donate.

I like that they are starting to build the Group capability, and I appreciate your comment. I am wondering if anybody else has ideas that would allow networking and collaboration in post-service business.
