Hello everyone. I'm currently a SPC 25Q in the MDARNG acting as a team chief for a JNN and CPN team. Civilian side, I work as a Network Engineer and have a few Cisco/CompTIA certifications. I was wondering if it was possible to request an MOS-Q from the signal school using certifications and work experience.

Yes it is. Look up the requirements for the MOS you want under the ACASP program. You can find the requirements in the DA Pam 611-21 Chapter 10C. If you meet those requirements, which for IT is usually several years of verifiable job experience plus some education, you can contact the MOS proponent and request a Memorandum stating that you meet the requirements for the MOS.
After that, the reclass requirements are based on your units needs and policies since you’re Reserve Component.

SPC (Join to see) it’s not through your chain, it’s a request to the MOS proponent at the school house. Once you have that memo that says you are qualified to perform duties in the MOS, then you take that to your chain of command and follow the guidance SGM (Join to see) gave you.

SFC (Join to see) - Roger. I thought I would at least need to get some approval through my unit. I'll go ahead and reach out to Gordon.

Its rarely done. But it doesnt hurt to ask. However, you can ask for the schooling or auto reclass if your MOS is selected for.

When I was going to school if you had certs you could try and "Challenge" out of the class by taking the test at the end of each segment. you would keep doing that until you failed one. also I do not know if they would let you "Challenge out of lets say Blue Force Tracker or TIMs"
