QSP Selection, 1 year-on, Stigma, Unemployment, Recovery...

Having been selected, myself, I know all the personal, and emotional turmoil that being given your "pink-slip" entails. I was caught off-guard. I was the victim of a reprisal action resulting in a "3/2" Senior rating, which resulted in my selection by this board.
The stigma...
The stigma of having to tell employer after employer, why a Sergeant First Class did not retire from the military has been exhausting. I have since, stopped mentioning this aspect during the interview process. I have resorted to telling a story how I left the service because I was graduating with my Master's degree (which was true).
The stigma while I served out the 18 months that the Army gave me to prepare me and my family for civilian life was excruciating, and in the end, I could not wait to take off the uniform. I walked around and people avoided me like the plague... as if they were going to catch a case of the "QSP's" if they got too close.
There is hope...
I have been fighting the injustice that my career endured, relentlessly by contacting Congressional offices and through appeals through the ABCMR.
I made this thread to let this be an outlet, where others who were selected through this process can share knowledge on how to fight for our time served. I was denied a retirement, after serving 14 1/2 years of my life. I gave everything to the Army, and I have nothing to show for my service.
Feel free to share your story here. We can lean on each other as we come to grips with the deaths of our careers, and we can stand together and help each other fight the injustices that we fell victim too.
There are avenues for redress. I have spent countless hours researching the proper courses of action. One that you can accomplish alone, without the need for legal counsel. You can become your own advocate, and the people on this thread, can assist. At least... that is the concept behind this topic.

SFC Jeff Wonser,
I am keeping my head up as you did. I was giving a pretty bad NCOER for a incident I had while off duty( No it wasn't a DUI) on post. It had to do with hunting in which I didn't have my weapon registered on post. As an E7 the CG has all the authority on UCMJ action / GOMAR. He opted that is was a meaning less offense, my command though freaked out and gave me a 4/4 with 2 No blocks but only one substantial bullet to support the "Needs Some Improvement". I appealed the NCOER and it was denied by HRC. This happened a year ago this month and there have been several boards and I haven't received anything. It sucks because I just hit 16 years and it all for not. A simple infraction most likely ruined everything I had earned.

The fight is an exhausting uphill battle, and once you take the uniform off, the fight gets seemingly unwinnable. Common sense goes out the window. You have to use doctrine to fight an injustice and doctrine is frustratingly vague. Good luck

I did some quick research into QSP and you were indeed hosed. From what I read, if you had reached 15 years of service you would have been eligible to retire under TERA?

Yes, I am well-aware... Thus, why I am still fighting it. Been out since March, 2014 at this point. The fight is tireless, and unforgiving.

Keep up the good fight brother! To be 6 months short of retirement is a tragedy.
