I am currently active duty USN and I plan to seperate at my eaos in april 2016 and go in to the USNR. I plan to finish my bachelors while in the reserves. Does anyone know anything about putting an an officer package in the reserves? I would like to go back to active duty. Is it possible? How difficult is the process?

I've been retired for 10 years, so I can't answer all of your questions. However, active enlisted - reserve enlisted - reserve officer - active officer...yes, it's been done and I'm sure it can still be done. It'll have to be done in steps. (reserve e to o...and then reserve to active) The biggest challenges will be identifying if there are openings at each step. I'm not sure what officer designation you are trying for, but 1) are there openings in the reserves? and 2) if you do get commissioned in the reserves, are there openings on the active side? I would check with an Officer Recruiter before you make any major decisions. For example, you enroll in a Computer Science degree program and then find out that a degree in Computer Engineering makes you more competitive. (this is an example, I'm not sure what AE translates to in Officer designators) Bottom line is that it can be done, just don't rely on hearsay and "deckplate" advice...even the advice of enlisted career counselors. (Reserves is a different beast...and so is Officer detailing.) Good luck.
