I supplement EXTENSIVELY. I am also attempting to enter an IBBF event in the next year or so. I have seen INCREDIBLE results as well.
My supplements include (at any given time) a preworkout, creatine, BCAAs, whey protein, Cassien protein, multivitamins, test boosters, estrogen blockers, and so on.
I also have a diet to match. I eat a LOT of meat, eggs, whole grains, and so on.
I have added a LOT of muscle mass and strength over the passed 2 years as a result.

Now.... I am a lifter. I NEVER take supplements before cardio or morning PT. Pre-workouts are not safe to take with Army PT or hard running and can kill. Supplement smart if you do and research each one you take prior to starting.

Honestly I have not found one that helps before the run. I am a STRONG advocate for supplements that help increase you hearts capability to pump. I take 2-3 grams fish oil a day to help with cardiovascular health. CoQ10 is also a good one. As far as I know there is no "pre run" in the market.

SGT Hershman, IBBF?  I'm familiar with IFBB, but not IBBF.  What are the classes and events?

The other day I was talking to my daughter a SGT in the Army and discussing my upcoming APFT and she asked why I still had to take them because as she said ". Your old and stuff".
In my 40's and I still pass my APFT which is more than I can say for many 18-20 yr olds  these days. My supplement is pasta and beer the night before, and aspirin for the joint pain the morning of.

I like those supplements, they work well I take it? I take some kind of energy substitute in the morning. and Ibprofen. really really hot shower the night before and the morning of. Just bought a bunch of stuff to get the full insanity program experiance including shakeology which is supposed to be a meal replacement with all of the daily grains and nutriants should be interesting.

SFC, SPC Pierce, Muscle and Fitness, December issue, had an article about taking a pain killer before workouts. Turns out that since your body is pushing blood to muscles in large quantities your liver is not capable of processing the pain med and it will over a relatively short time cause some real complications with the liver.
SPC Pierce. Be very wary of the whole shakeology thing. It really is a money trap. Insanity is a good short term program, but I have seen a LOT of profiles come out of it. A good strength training routine and hard interval cardio are your best bets over all in preparing for an APFT.
