It's Kansas - it gets extremely hot and humid in the summer and can get bitterly cold in the winter and snow. Although I've heard the last few years there hasn't been much snow in that area (Kansas, Nebraska, etc).

There's places to go fishing. Hunting. Omaha and Kansas City are a few hours away.

Oh and the wind is insane.

I worked in Kansas City for a while, winters there are about like Kentucky, just a bit drier. Maybe average 14-16"of snow a year. Nebraska gets about double that, I supported the 35th Division and had to fly into Ft Riley, Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island a lot and usually in the winter.
Omaha would be more than a couple of hours. It's about 2 1/2 from Kansas City.
The Airport in Manhattan looks like a country road with a metal barn at one end.
There used to be some fantastic places to eat in Kansas City.

Really hot and humid in the summer, cold and windy in the winter, great hunting, fishing, and boating in the area. A few good clubs in the area. MWR does all it can to support soldiers and families with trips to sporting events and shopping trips. If you get a car, have it checked over by a good mechanic before buying: too many hoopties in the area. Oh, and during winter they salt/spray deicer the roads, so don't buy a newer car, lest you have winter storage.

Not to bad lots of late work calls for team building/ personal matters. High tempo work cycle but not that crazy. Outside of work there are a few activities local but but you’ll be traveling 1-2 hrs for some things.
