Is there any Marine Corps Prior Service Recruiters on here? I'm looking to get back in, the reserves this time . I am "off-contract" which from what I gathered so far seems to be some sort of a no-go in the eyes of HQ Marine Corps according to the recruiter that I talk to recently. FYI, I am MEPS qualified, I did my whole physical this past year because I was thinking of joining the Army Reserves.

Is there actually a chance of getting back into the Marine Corps Reserves? Or do they just not want to deal with the paperwork that comes with it?

Not sure what off contract means but your discharge status and your RE code will most likely dictate your next course of action.

I didn't know the term until recently either. I have an RE1A and honorable discharge.

SSgt Adam Nawoichik - RE1A and honorable should support your cause but I would need more information on what "off contract" is intended to mean. I would question the source and go straight to Prior Service Recruiting to verify.

Off contract: A civilian. Prior service, not currently under any contract. No current active, reserve or IRR commitment.

SFC Michael Hasbun - Thank you. It's not a phrase or term we use in the Marine Corps. With us you are either Active, Reserve, IRR or you are not.

Go to which branch is going to serve you best. Find an engineer unit in the reserves and Guard and see who will get you a bonus for MOS qual.
