I heard a story on the radio about a couple demanding that Fox News NOT be allowed on the TV's in a County recreational center Cardio room. They've had a petition signed, and are threatening law suits to ensure Fox News is not allowed to be viewed.
Is this Censorship? Intolerance? Appropriate? What are your thoughts?

I shut out a person's comments the minute they start labeling and name calling. I deal with a whole lot less political BS since I started doing that.

No room for name calling in my book either. If one can't back up their assertions with sane, cogent arguments they're not worth my time.

I see extremism from both "liberals" and "conservatives". I find the worst intollerence from Evangelical, so called,"Christians".

Clearly there is intolerance to be had on both sides. The question posed, as relates to the article is whether one side takes their intolerance to the level of using government to quash, stifle, or eliminate the opposing message. Again, clearly this does occur bilaterally, but is there a preponderance in one direction or the other?

I believe it is bilateral, to the point of creating factions and splinters, thus dividing us more.

I don't know if you've followed up on this case or not, but as it turns out, the Rec Center put the channel lineup to a vote and what do you know, the people there did not want Fox in ther Rec Center Screens.

It came a distant 6th place.

So, if a couple acting on what turned out to be the majority's opinion is considered by you an act of "political intolerance"...why don't you consider the Rec Center Manager's answer to their concern equally intolerant? Apparently he's the one that was intolerant of, as it turns out, the majority of it's membership's wishes by tuning not 1 but 4 screens to Fox.

And another one, Fox News aired a hit piece on the couple basically calling them winners and throwing a hissy fit.

That's not intolerance?

OK then.

I really don't get why RallyPoint is suddenly and lately so into political diatribe and finger pointing.

You're right leaning, you will have your supporters and that's great.
Why post "questions" that seem to be more of a bait post than anything else?

Reading some of your other replies in this very post it is clear that you just want to convince others of your argument not really pose a frank question hoping for an open dialogue.

Not cool in my book.

Based on the proposed plan presented to the public for a vote, they were asked to choose 3 channels.

Fox came in 6th. That tells me people did not want Fox in the Rec Center. Just as they didn't want MSNBC.

But it is telling that more people wanted MSNBC than FOX...even though the Rec Center Manager chose to ignore it.

8 channel lineup, Board already selected 5, public asked to chose the remaining 3.

Pretty simple really.

Intolerant manager vs the will of the public using the facilities.

Pretty simple indeed, now there are a lot of people who won't get to watch what they want, even if they're the only ones in the Rec Center at the time...... What the couple at the rec center have achieved is to take choices away from ALL of the Rec Center users. They actually won, but sadly, at the expense of ALL the other Rec Center users who now have fewer choices.
