I don't completely agree with the quote. However, I do like we are part of something greater than ourselves.

I concur, the enemy's aim has more control over my destiny than my reactions to it. I wonder how people that believe this feel about survivor's guilt?

MAJ Ken Landgren
I was in therapy with a SGT. Every day a 10 year old Afghan boy would come out and show his toys the SGT. One day they did a relief in place as the unit was redeploying. The new soldiers guarded the gate from a vehicle. The boy ran out to see his "friend" with a bag of marbles. The soldiers cut him in half with a M240. The SGT was a big husky guy and pulled the shooter out of the vehicle and proceeded to administered a major ass kicking. The result? It broke his heart and lives with the guilt every day. I felt so bad for him as he did not improve in one year's worth of therapy. It broke my heart watching his therapy.
