In 2006 I was part of a multinational brigade in southern Afghanistan as the US handed over more and more responsibilities to other countries. After a side trip to Iraq and other assignments, I returned to Afghanistan in 2011 as part of a US division headquarters responsible for 11 brigades across eastern Afghanistan including multinational partners.
During this deployment our division had organic brigades in Iraq as the mission changed there and they consolodated and moved south to Kuwait. Receiving updates from them, across the two theaters, was facinating as Operation Iraqi Freedom became New Dawn and they left the country at the end of 2011.
Since my redeployment in 2012, I have been watching the events in Afghanistan, and the attached infographic tells the story very simply. I continue to be awed at what our military does!

The logistical capabilities of our military have always amazed me (mainly in a good way). It's awe-inspiring what we can do on a large scale operation moving in or out of a theater... yet you can order printer ink or toilet paper between August 1 and September 31 of any given year. Ha!

LTC (Join to see) Well said sir.
Seeing as we actioned the same reports, sat in many of the same meetings and briefed many of the same folks.. I can certainly confirm your observations of Afghanistan and our Military Joint combined task force that year.
