There are some cars that have been around non-stop for decades now, i.e. Honda Accord, Ford Mustang and the Corvette that has been burning tires for more than 60 years now. In the other hand we have cars that were sentenced to death and then brought back to life, i.e. VW Beetle, Dodge Dart, Charger, Challenger, the Camaro Z/28, etc.

Some of this re-born cars have been a complete success and others had a lot of critics from the true fans. A front engine, FWD Beetle?! A four doors Charger? What have been your thoughts when you see a car brought back? What has been the biggest fails you remember? What car you would love to see again?

I bought the first 1967 Camero SS sold from my hometown. I had to order it. It had a 350 Cu. inch engine, 300 HP, 4 speed Muncie shifter, posi tract rear end, 371 rear axle gear ratio, and the rear seat folded down, which was carpeted, and it was perfect for my duffle bags. It had A/C also. It was fast. I hadn't had it for 15 minutes and a 351 Mustang came up beside me and wanted to race. I down shifted and blew his doors off. I eventually put an Edlebrock high rise intake with a Holly double pumper, and headers. It ran B stock when I was at Fort Bragg in Lumberton. This exactly how it looked. The color is Bolero Red. No spoiler. That came out in '68.

You have no idea how much fun these new cars are. Even at the track experience the instructors prefer these over the NASCAR Stockcars the use for other events. This one has adaptive cruise control, satellite radio, Wifi, ect... and as a daily driver there is no way I could be in an old muscle car. Now one day I would like to have a restored muscle car to take to shows or just cruise around on the weekend but this new modern muscle can carry the groceries and win at the track every day of the week.

SGT(P) (Join to see) - The local president of our Mustang club has two KRs one is a garage queen signed by Henry Ford III and Carroll Shelby. He is very proud of them and they are really cool cars.

Nothing starts a conversation in a bar like getting there in a 1969 Firebird Trans Am, not the hideous 1977 but the gorgeous 1969 MAJ Ken Landgren

There's been hits and misses on reviving old cars. I remember when they tried bringing back the Nova - but made it some boring economical mom beater. The Impala version after the mid 90s big body was shameful imo. I loved the revived 94-96 big body Impala SS...but when they bought it back in the 2000s - it didn't have the same appeal or oomph. Same thing with the Malibu. But there's been some nice returns - with the new Camaros, Dodge and their "muscle car" line up.

That being said - the new wave of "muscle cars" has been here for quite sometime and I'm talking about the 4/6 cylinder - super/turbo charged - fwd/awd small sedan/hatches that put up better numbers and out do the majority of old school muscle cars. I'm a fan of both eras - as there's something about a 69 Chevelle SS that a modern car can't give you - but then there's something about a 400hp awd hatch that gets 30mpg on the highway that you'll never see from a classic muscle car.

LTC (Join to see) that Impala SS was a beauty indeed, I really don't know what happened there. And the new one, although is a really nice one, went completely off the line of what an Impala was meant. I had a 82 Malibu with a 350 engine, Holley 650, positrack differential, imagine how I feel when I see a new one.

I'm a fan of cars as a whole, I can admire the same the Chevelle SS you mentioned and the Focus RS you'll get next year. But a Dart... how can you justify it?

The old school muscle cars weren't built for gas mileage, they were built for speed and great sounds with headers and pipes. I do like the gas mileage the new cars and trucks get, but I'm still old school, except when I have to stop and gas up every 200 miles. LOL

SGT(P) (Join to see), I was 21 when I bought that Camero. The only car I had in school was a '49 Dodge, fluid drive transmission, looked like a bus, couldn't get out of its own way, and was ugly. My mom never took me anywhere because she didn't know how to drive.
