The President wants the whole budget in one bill again, to maximize leverage. He doesn't want to play chicken with Congress with only domestic spending on the table.
I think Congress should call the bluff and attempt an override. Better yet, send the war funding as a separate measure and have POTUS explain why he is defunding his own operations. At the same time, Congress should pass the other 13 appropriations bills separately and through committee, and scrub all of the fluff that has been crammed into the omnibus for eight years out of them. Then we'll see what happens.

The GOP always wants to increase defense to rally the military votes, but it comes at the expense of the civilians that we vow to protect, serve and honor.

MSG (Join to see) So what I heard was Blah Blah Blah, Obama, (Choke, Gag, Choke), Blah Blah....entitled. Maybe it has something to do with taking care of troops? I find it hilarious you talk about buying votes.

Thank you for your very insightful thoughts on the GOP and congress.

The bipartisan bill actually includes the amount of funding Obama asked for. Pure politics.

Yeah, right, the Republicans want the remaining 20% of the military vote.

Obama will get what he wants, once Paul Ryan becomes the Majority Leader. Same ideas as Boehner without the tears.

Republicans have pledged to attempt to override Obama’s veto, but it’s unlikely they have the votes to do so.

The Senate voted 70-27 to pass the bill, enough to override a veto. Democratic leaders have said, however, that some members would switch their vote to avoid defying the president.

The House vote count, 270-156, would not be enough to override a veto.

You would have to ensure Boehner is no longer speaker and make sure Ryan isn't his replacement.

Sgt Tom Cunnally The congress can still override a veto, if they have the courage to stand up to the potus. I don't believe boehnor nor ryan have the brass.
