Obama to veto Defense Spending Bill. Thoughts?

The President wants the whole budget in one bill again, to maximize leverage. He doesn't want to play chicken with Congress with only domestic spending on the table.
I think Congress should call the bluff and attempt an override. Better yet, send the war funding as a separate measure and have POTUS explain why he is defunding his own operations. At the same time, Congress should pass the other 13 appropriations bills separately and through committee, and scrub all of the fluff that has been crammed into the omnibus for eight years out of them. Then we'll see what happens.

There's a surprise.

The GOP always wants to increase defense to rally the military votes, but it comes at the expense of the civilians that we vow to protect, serve and honor.

Let's prepare to resort to throwing rocks once we run out of ammo and cannot afford anymore..

Republicans have pledged to attempt to override Obama’s veto, but it’s unlikely they have the votes to do so.



The Senate voted 70-27 to pass the bill, enough to override a veto. Democratic leaders have said, however, that some members would switch their vote to avoid defying the president.



The House vote count, 270-156, would not be enough to override a veto.
