My wife is planning on having a couple of her old friends from Canada come visit her on Schofield Barracks, HI, while I'm away on TDY. Something that just popped up in our heads is if they'd even be able to come on post with just her accompanying, not the SM (me). Does anyone have any experience with this that could lend some insight? Much appreciated.

1LT F, I forgot to add that a great resource for you to check would be via connecting with RallyPoint members who are posted at Schofield right now. Here is the link to the Schofield Barracks duty station page here on RP. We have approx 1,500 RallyPoint members serving at Schofield now who are on RP. I would recommend connecting with a few of your peers there to ask them. Good luck!

My wife's family (Mexican citizens) visited her on Fort Bliss without issue.

I know at Point Mugu and Port Hueneme, both under the command of Naval Base Ventura County, any person with a non-US issued ID card is not allowed on base without prior approval from the Base Security Officer. I am not sure if every base is the same, at NBVC bases they check every adult passenger for a US issued ID, if you don't have one your not getting on base without prior approval.
