Nitpicky, but what ever happened to using snow camouflage on Army combat operations?

What happened to having multiple camos to fit the environment? Common sense left and the ACU came along!

I've been working camouflage since I was a captain (and Nixon was President). The single pattern "solution" was driven by a perceived need to reduce the clothing bag; performance was secondary. It's a long, convoluted story beyond the scope of a site like this one.
As to snow camo: the Marines have a very effective snow overwhite (disclosure: I was involved in development and test) which is available to the Army as well. You can see it in "Avengers: Ultron" if you're curious.
