NASA to announce they've solved a 'Major Mars mystery' on Monday. What do you think it is?

It can't be water -- they already know it's abundant. It's not likely to be life, because life would be microbial, and I'm not sure they have the equipment to detect that on the surface yet. So...what do you think?
Whatever it is, I'm excited and will be watching!

My guess is evidence of previous life existing there. Coral-like or limestone deposits most likely if that's the case.

LCDR (Join to see) That'd be friggen' awesome, yep. Limestone would be a sign of previous life? Didn't know that.

SN Greg Wright - The short answer is that limestone is basically decomposed skeletons of life forms. I am not sure that it would be 100% proof though.

SSgt Terry P. - Agreed. Evidence of someone else having been there isn't something they'd announce, I think -- might cause panic.

Who cares! There is no need to spend billions to further this research without first fixing where we live now.

GySgt Moses Lozano I have to disagree, Gunny. Humans being what they are, there will be no fixing where we live now. So we either find a way off this rock or...we die off.

I believe "confirmed" is a bit strong.
NASA - " provide the strongest evidence yet that liquid water flows intermittently on present-day Mars."

MCPO Roger Collins - "Potentially life-giving water still flows across the ancient surface of Mars from time to time, NASA scientists said Monday in revealing a potential breakthrough in both the search for life beyond Earth and human hopes to one day travel there."
