Dear Monday,
You always think you're going to sneak up on me... snap me out of blissful sleep and send me stumbling forward like a pig on roller skates... you win sometimes, but more times than not I'm awake before your ominous alarm. I watch you try and sneak up on me, only to find that I'm already wide awake and planning how to make the most of you.
I am immensely grateful for the breath in my lungs, for the fire in my spirit, for all the wonderful and amazing things present in my life. They humble me, and they make me more determined to expand the wealth of blessings in my life.

"The Old Corps"
The Korean War, in which the Marine Corps fought and won some of its most brutal battles,
was not without its humor.
...
During one such conflict a ROK ( Republic of Korea ) commander, whose unit was fighting
along with the Marines, called legendary Marine General Chesty Puller, to report a major
Chinese attack in his sector.
"How many Chinese are attacking you?" asked Puller.
"Many, many Chinese!" replied the excited Korean officer.
General Puller asked for another count and got the same answer, "Many, many, many Chinese!"
"God dammit!" swore Fuller, "Put my Marine liaison officer on the radio.”
In a minute, an American voice came over the air: "Yes sir?"
"Lieutenant," growled Chesty, exactly how many Chinese you got up there?"
"General, we got a whole shitload of Chinese up here!"
"Thank God." exclaimed Puller, "At least there's someone up there who knows how to count.

Sgt Tom Cunnally
When Chesty retired in 1955, he had his retirement party at the Staff NCO Club at Camp Lejeune and invited all enlisted who had served in his commands in WWII & Korea to attend. Chesty thanked all of the enlisted who attended because he had been an enlisted Marine and believed they did all the fighting..
