I've heard its one of the most revered fighting techniques in the world. It was implemented after I got out. I was in martial arts before I enlisted (Aikido, Tae Kwan Do, Kenpo) and thought hand to hand was pretty pathetic when I was going through it. Can those of you in it now give me some feedback on it.

Marines previously trained in a system called LINE (Linear Involuntary Neurological Engagement). It was a system focused on lethal response to common attacks. It got discontinued due to need for non-lethal methods and rigidness of using 6-7 detailed steps in each scenario.
The current system is MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program). It mixes MMA with traditional weapons tactics (i.e. bayonet, etc.).

You figure you're learning a system. By glean from the techniques, but have a base martial art. Mine is judo and jujitsu. All the Budo arts fit together.
