Is there any value in holding a higher level degree in education (I can’t find how it would help a direct commission, or anything similar)?

Direct Commission

Thanks everyone! I am trying to make sure I explore all options. My NG contract will be up soon and I was considering switching to Army or Air Force Reserves. When I joined I had my Master’s degree, and have since obtained the doctoral degree. I wasn’t sure if direct commissioning was an option since my degrees are in law, medical, or IT.

The only requirement for a Direct Commission as a 70B is a Bachelors Degree with a 3.5 GPA or higher. If you want to be in the hospital Admin field, the PhD in education may help with competitiveness on the direct commission board, but you’d have to decide what you want in the 70 series after O3. It sounds like you may want to pursue OCS if you plan on staying in the military.
