I'm trying to go from a 12T to 68C. I will be making SGT within the next 2-3 months and I hit my ROW next June (15 months out from ETS). Currently, 12T out-call for SGT is "N" and 68C in-call for SGT is "Y"

Ask your Retention NCO for the best guidance. But, I would say to do it now before you make SGT and aren't allowed to reclass out.

What about my initial bonus? Would I have to pay all of that back?

SPC (Join to see) - Again, in regards to your bonus, if you receive all payments and THEN re-enlist for 68C after getting your GT up, you should be good to go. This is why I suggest you speak with your Retention NCO as they are the SMEs and will be able to answer these questions with more accuracy.

SPC (Join to see) to clarify a few of the technical details - you can reclass outside your reenlistment window, it's called a Voluntary reclass. You don't have to pay back your bonus. Your GT score makes you ineligible. Your promotable status also makes you ineligible for that particular MOS if you're Active Duty.

Yes, but 68C doesn't accept promotable SPC and above and there are rarely any class seats.

Of course, then you'll respond that you'll drop your P status. But if you're MLI, that's not an option. Plus the RCP for a non promotable E4 is 8 years, the class seat you'll eventually get will be about a year away, the class is a year long and the SRR is just under 3 years from graduation. So, if you already have over 3 years, you probably will not be eligible to accept the class seat, even if there is one.

You have to be 18+ months out from ETS but we have about 5 or 6 E-5’s in my class, but I don’t know the logistical side of how to switch
