I take testosterone, the Army kicks me out for using drugs.
A female takes testosterone. "I'm becoming a man!" Gets to continue with their career as "a man" using testosterone.
I fail a PT test. I get flagged and threatened with separation.
Another guy fails a PT test. "I'm trans! I'm a woman!" Continues career with PT graded on the female scale.
I get depressed because someone close to me dies or a long term relationship ends and the Army looks at me like I'm broken and could potentially send me packing.
Someone decides they don't like themselves so they want to mutilate their body and become someone else. Army says "Sure, come on! We'd love to have you!"
I can do this all day.

SSG (Join to see) - It's nice to see that you read "that" book so much....May I ask why you don't read on the real subject matter...just to be fair? As a former police officer I made it my job to be fair and hear both sides of the story. I wanted and needed to know what made people tick. And as a medic too...You seem to be very "bitter" or angry towards the transgender community? Do you even know one? Yes I understand this is a sensitive topic I get it....but I'm certainly not hateful and saying unkind things about them. Like "mutitalate" etc. Not cool my friend.....Your a SGT. Start acting like one....with all do respect, we as NCO's must have compassion whether or not you like the person or not and we must be careful of what we say and our behavior as our soldiers see us and it effects them. You just might have a transgender in your Unit right now. Morale is so very important and you control that...you lead by example. If you hate, they'll hate...are you following me? Are we good Sgt.? Look, I'm not being a dick here, just being calm. thanks Sgt.

MSgt Mike Mikulski - What you presented has nothing to do with my post, which is on Gender dysphoria. Your supplied article is more in line with the effects that LGTB suffer due to the stigma and social consequences of their 'coming out," while Gender Dysphoria has to do with them not feeling at home in their own skin. There is a conflict between how they were born and how they feel/perceive themselves to be in terms of gender identity. The percentage of trans individuals is low in relation to the overall trans population.
Gender dysphoria involves a conflict between a person's physical or assigned gender and the gender with which he/she/they identify. People with gender dysphoria may be very uncomfortable with the gender they were assigned, sometimes described as being uncomfortable with their body (particularly developments during puberty) or being uncomfortable with the expected roles of their assigned gender.

Gender Dysphoria is the "new" term. Gender Identity Disorder was changed to Gender Dysphoria in the DSM5. Not for scientific reasons, but for social reasons.
This is not the first time such a decision has been made from the editors of the DSM, either.

When dealing with human behavior it often is necessary to use such terms.
That doesn't excuse bending to social pressures to make diagnostic changes.

I don't think it's right at all. People can say all they want that they're "mentally unfit" but in the DSM I don't believe transgender is listed as any kind of mental illness or disorder AND gender identity disorder is a very broad term and covers a lot of things. It does not mean someone has a mental illness.
There are so many who have been serving, openly, for the last year (some longer) with zero issues. So all the arguments I've seen have been proven wrong. The same arguments used in this case were used in the repeal of DADT, were used about integrating the services and so on. The military didn't end. It didn't implode.
I think it's ridiculous. I think it's pointless to bring back the ban. That's just my view.

MSgt Kurt S. - I don't care if you give a shit or not. I still go home at the end of the day and live my life. Lol.
How are any of these groups asking for special treatment outside the Constitution? (I really don't care to see your answer).
You obviously do care because you keep responding. If you didn't care you would just not answer. That's what I do on social media outlets or forums if I truly don't care what someone thinks. I just ignore that person's comment. I don't respond. Pretty simple.
Lack of character? LOL ok. You can think what you want. Plenty of people would disagree with you on that and those people are the ones whose opinions truly matter to me. To each his or her own.
"It's hilarious to watch you guys respond and get your dander all bent in a wad." You live a very sad, sad life you know that right?
"Here let me spell it out for you, I D O N' T C A R E! there...now you can throw sand all over the place and "hurumpf" and post little liberal sayings and call everyone who does not agree with you a square knob Nazi umptyfrat hoomadadinger. I look at my retirement check stub and my stub from my work and i don't see your name on it, so therefore I could care less what you feel, think espouse and so forth. Once again get a clue...I would think that as an E-7 you'd get the hint."
Lol you say you don't care but you keep replying so you do care or your life is so pathetic and boring (as you already stated) you just like to troll around. If you didn't really care what I thought you wouldn't keep responding.
Generally pages like this are for debate and discussion so if you don't want to do that with me or other people who you disagree with then just don't do it.
I also don't call everyone a Nazi and I'm not a liberal or conservative. Unlike you and your friends I don't lump people into one group together. I put people into the group they share characteristics with.
I also don't ever refer to myself as a pay grade. Maybe that's an Air Force thing...who knows? To each his or her own. With that I bid adieu.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - Don't join the debate team. You haven't countered with a single link or article supporting your position and you are trying to argue several points at one time. The first that it's really rational to remove and add body parts and live the rest of your life taking chemicals everyday and that somehow this should fall under a protected class Constitutionally. The second is that it should be accepted and excepted to allow someone transgender to serve. Good luck with both. I am totally indifferent to what someone does in their personal life, but that does not mean that I think we should make exceptions for them to serve in the Military. If you can't enlist or you can get a bar to re-enlist because of taking high blood pressure medication, the argument that a transgender should be allowed to serve after body modification and while taking hormones everyday isn't particularly strong. I'm sure that there a number of overweight and/or PT failures that could have still contributed if they had been allowed to either serve or continue to serve, but I accept the rational behind enforcing that standard. I can see no rational reason why the Service should make an exception.

Do I agree with the order? No. But then it's not my place to do so. It really is this simple. Color of skin does not matter. Sex or gender does not matter. What does matter? Can they physically and mentally do the job and carry out the mission and not be a detriment to the unit, the troops that will ultimately rely on them for support when the shit hits the fan and bullets start flying? Are they deployable in the sense that they can be called up and roll out on a moments notice and not need a pharma company of support while they are in country taking care of the mission goals? Do they meet the same standards as every other troop that signs the dotted line and swears the oath?
If they can do the job and not be a hinderance then let them do the job. If their condition gets in the way of that and precludes job/mission completion then they have no business in the uniform or service.

CPT Lawrence Cable - I don't need to counter with any links. I have researched this. Are there a lot of adult debate teams out there?
Where did I say it should be a protected class constitutionally? I didn't. I said they should be treated as human beings like everyone else. Also I think it should be accepted and allowed for them to serve as they have for a year openly now.
I'm not even addressing the rest of your comment because it's the same bullshit that I've seen over and over.
