I was told FRACU’s are no longer authorized after the wear out date. From what I’ve read it seems that the OEF-FR (multicams) are what was referred to as being phased out, but my FR’s are OCP so from what I’m understanding they should still be fine. Anyone have any clear guidance on that? I haven’t found anything so maybe there is a misunderstanding at my unit about it?

Thanks! So as long as it’s OCP it’s fine. My unit put out that fracu’s were no longer authorized but I don’t think they’re tracking that ours are ocp-fr since we deployed in 17 and they’ve all changed over since

Terminology confusion seems common, often confounding the type of uniform with the pattern used. There are people who still fail to understand ACU refers to the uniform type, not the pattern, ie., UCP vs OCP. The FRACU is simply the fire retardant version. The UCP (digital) and OEF-CP (multicam) patterns wear out, but not the types of uniforms (ACU or FRACU).
