So I don’t know much about it, I’ve tried to look it up and all I keep getting is Mary Walkers bio. She was an amazing woman who did amazing things and is the only female recipient of a Medal of Honor. WOW! I am getting awarded the Mary Walker award next week (I’m in the reserve, my husband is active and I volunteer for his units FRG) but his unit is making a HUGE deal out of this and freaking out that I was chosen and there’s going to be a huge ceremony and I’m very confused why. I just want to know more about it and what this means? Im not ungrateful at all! Just curious to learn more about it before the ceremony next week.

Here’s some info on it though: https://www.ausa.org/dr-mary-e-walker
At the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861, Dr. Walker, then 29, journeyed to Washington D.C. and applied for an appointment as an Army surgeon.

I know someone who received this as well. She received it at a BN ball, the ceremony appeared similar to that of an induction ceremony for SAMC or others that are similar.
