Someone pointed out that more Americans have been killed by collapsing furniture than by ISIS.

"WASHINGTON — President Obama, seeking to counter pressure for a military escalation in response to terrorist attacks, told a group of news columnists this week that sending significant ground forces back to the Middle East could conceivably result in the deaths of 100 American soldiers every month.

In a private session at the White House, Mr. Obama explained that his refusal to redeploy large numbers of troops to the region was rooted in the grim assumption that the casualties and costs would rival the worst of the Iraq war. In such a scenario, he said, a renewed commitment could take up to $10 billion a month and leave as many as 500 troops wounded every month in addition to those killed, a toll he deemed not commensurate to the threat."

The GCC (Gulf Cooperative Council) is taking on the ground war. This is good news because they understand the enemy. The President is looking out for troops by providing logistical, air & Intel support to our allies in the war on terror. Good for him, good for us.

It's a loaded question. Obama is looking out for Obama and his own agenda, whatever that is. I have my own thoughts on that and based on the past 7 years of his lack of performance should give you all a clue.

We won't send troops back into the area because when the president leaves the White House this will be one of his claims for success. Regardless of the damage that will be done by giving ISIS another 2 years of growth, the current administration views its lasting image as more important.

I don't often get to cut and paste previous responses.

Well, I suppose you could possibly be more wrong. But I can't imagine how.

President Obama refuses to send in ground troops -- because there is no sense following up bad policy with more of the same bad policy.

you could try and explain how I am wrong...but you don't have that answer.

Instead of sending in ground troops and squashing this threat outright we will continue to let it fester. It is after all the "J.V." team

I wish I could find out what they are thinking about overland supply if we have to go to Raqqa. Where do the supplies come through? Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Iraq? Those all seem to be non-starters.
