It's you. Actually the disconnect is between We the People and Them the Establishment politicians.

I would say the Dems have a disconnect with about 50% of the American people....give or take the statistical margin of error....

When Mr Kerry permanently disconnects his home and office ACs and refrigerators, and gets all his food and medicine from unrefrigerated sources, he will have my attention.

The new evil to mankind is air conditioning and refrigerators! So an easy question to any scientist or engineer or historian out there: If we banned Air Conditioners and Refrigerators (ie, ALL using HFC coolant, which is nearly every one in...cars/trucks/trains/homes/businesses/food processing plants/hospitals/drug labs/elderly care facilities/you name it) how many of you think it would; A: Kill millions of old people and babies within a year due to heat stroke and many millions more due to inadequate or spoiled food and medicine; or B: (Kerry's words) "literally save life on the planet itself"? A or B?

I would say that both party extremes are not inline with the majority of Americans. if you read the article it takes about how HFCs destroy the ozone layer, which leads to climate change. I think what Sec Kerry is trying to say is that Climate change is a serious long term threat as compared to ISIS which is an serious imminent threat. Both being serious threats. in the end, I think moderate Conservatives and Liberals are inline with most people, which tend to be middle of the road.
