We can absolutely trust Iran. 100%. To act in its own interest. Our problem comes when we think we are so slick that we will convince others not to do so because persuasion.

Of course not, but at the same time this is no real shock. Iran and Russia's ties have never been a secret.

Exactly, 2ndLt (Join to see). It bordered the Central and East Asian part of Russia's U.S.S.R., so was a "next tier" nation regarding potential U.S.S.R. expansion, same as Turkey and Afghanistan.

Soleimani was doing a very predictable activity, he just jumped the gun on breaking the travel ban. He was going shopping for a place to spend all of that money we are unfreezing from Iranian accounts. No doubt with a destination in mind.
Now that the administration has charted a course, I don't think we will have long to wait to find out what Iran will do.
