"The reports were changed by CENTCOM higher-ups to adhere to the administration’s public line that the U.S. is winning the battle against ISIS and al Nusra, al Qaeda’s branch in Syria, the analysts claim."

This is the corruption that this POTUS demands, and it goes to the core of command responsibility. Military officers are required to carry out the orders of the civilian leadership, but when that civilian leadership demands ideology over integrity it is the duty of military officers to step down rather than carry out fraud.

Personal integrity demands that they make a choice to either follow political expediency or personal integrity.

SGM (Join to see) - Sergeant Major; This is terrible. Absolutely terrible. I mean, if President Obama didn't like what the intelligence professionals were telling him then he should have followed precedent and set up his own group of intelligence professionals who would tell him what he wanted to hear.

I mean, it worked with Iraq, and it worked with Afghanistan, and it worked with al-Qaeda, and it worked with Cuba, and it worked with Vietnam, and it worked with Korea, and it worked with Japan, and it worked with Germany (twice), and it worked with Mexico, and it worked with Spain, and it worked with Canada (three times) so why has President Obama abandoned a historically proven means of learning what he wants to hear?

I don't know how to put a positive spin on 30,000 - 100,000 ISIS in Iraq.

Per the article, some of these are the same guys that saw their intelligence reports abused, twisted or ignored in the run up to the invasion. I always wonder where the disconnect happens - Is it the various administrations pressuring agencies to provide certain outcomes or bureaucrats trying to get ahead by telling the administrations what they wants to hear.

I have been around for a long time and two things that I have rarely seen in government are ethics and integrity.

This should not be surprising to anyone... especially those of us on ground at this time.

SGM (Join to see) - Not surprising at all. With all the misinformation and corruption in this Administration, would anybody expect anything else?

Whenever we think the US stands for better things than communist governments, it is based on the idea that here, no one is above the law of our land, the Constitution. The last 14 years have eroded my confidence in that ideal. Too many examples to list, but this is just another politically driven, downward-directed, "administration-approved truth". Like a spontaneous demonstration, but with mortars.
