If anyone's interested, here's Pew's full results, including quite a few other questions, rather than only one chart put together by a cable station (though it does relay the data for that one question accurately). There's a lot of good data there, but also that should (at the very least) allay some of the (faux-) concerns cited below about who was surveyed.

http://www.people-press.org/2016/12/08/low-approval-of-trumps-transition-but-outlook-for-his-presidency-improves/

"The analysis in this report is based on telephone interviews conducted November 30-December 5, 2016 among a national sample of 1,502 adults, 18 years of age or older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia (375 respondents were interviewed on a landline telephone, and 1,127 were interviewed on a cell phone, including 664 who had no landline telephone).
...
The combined landline and cell phone sample are weighted using an iterative technique that matches gender, age, education, race, Hispanic origin and nativity and region to parameters from the 2014 Census Bureau’s American Community Survey and population density to parameters from the Decennial Census. The sample also is weighted to match current patterns of telephone status (landline only, cell phone only, or both landline and cell phone), based on extrapolations from the 2015 National Health Interview Survey. The weighting procedure also accounts for the fact that respondents with both landline and cell phones have a greater probability of being included in the combined sample and adjusts for household size among respondents with a landline phone. The margins of error reported and statistical tests of significance are adjusted to account for the survey’s design effect, a measure of how much efficiency is lost from the weighting procedures."

It's a very leftist poll on my opinion. Though I will admit that he has excited poor judgement in his actions and behavior he is still a good role model based on the fact that he apologized for his actions and has other factors going for him. Those are the characteristics that should. E emulated. This poll is irrelevant either way as our next President will. R Donald Trump. America has spoken

Sounds like another "Fake Poll" designed to justify another "Fake News Story".

No. It is time to sit back and give the man a chance. Everyone just might be surprised. I gave the last one a chance and was surprised. He really disappointed me.
Hopefully the surprise on this one is he is very competent.
But again it is time to cool it. The election is over. We will do it again in four years.

At this point, the only poll that matters/mattered was taken on November 8, 2016. In it, Donald Trump received sufficient votes in sufficient states to rise to the office of POTUS on January 20, 2017. As to the poll referenced in this thread, I have no reason to believe it is any more accurate or any more significant than any of its predecessors this political season. Time and his own actions will write Trump's legacy ... not some dumbass Pew poll taken before he has even taken office.

Oh, is this poll like the polls the pollsters did before the election? If so it doesn't mean much.

I don't put much stock in polls. They usually only poll a few hundred to a couple thousand people. I don't believe for a second that you can accurately decide the opinions of 100s of millions of people from hundreds or thousands.

Also, I've been on this planet for 37 years and not once in my life have I or anyone I know ever been asked to participate in one of these polls.

A Poll will say what you WANT it to say. Phrase the questions and ask the right demographic and Hitler looks like an angel and the Pope is the Devil.

I worked in Mass media fresh out of College and long before I Signed on the line. After a year of watching "reporters" fabricate news and seeing how the industry works I got out. I was young but I wasn't stupid. That was back in the 90's, I look at what the talking heads say and all of these polls and then I ignore them. They are ALL lies every last one of them, their is zero integrity in the media and in these "polling" institutions.

Regardless of what the polls state, many felt him fit to be president. And, no poll can really capture that logic.

I can tell who they asked based on what they asked.
