If the organizations like the KKK did not take up the confed flag, would we vilify it so much?

I was thinking about this, having done a lot of civil war study lately. If organizations like the KKK didn't use the confed flag would we see it so harshly? when we became an independent nation from england we do not look at the Union Jack like we do the Stars and Bars. I'm frankly glad the North won, but it makes me wonder a bit.

The flag of the Army of Northern Virginia flies alongside but below my American flag. To me it's a symbol of states rights. My ancestors fought for the Union. My sympathies lie with the south.
There were many reasons for the civil war or War of Northern Aggression, depending on your point of view.

Again, it's how and where you were raised. Some of the most patriotic men I served with were southern. To us, it was a war of independence. In fact, we fly the Gadsden flag and 1st Navy Jack to honor my wife's ancestors who fought the English.

Personally I've never had an issue with it, thinking it was mostly a "Southern Pride" thing but I can see how it affects groups differently and how some may have a negative affinity for it.

The First Official Flag of the Confederacy. Although less well known than the "Confederate Battle Flags",the Stars and Bars was used as the official flag of the Confederacy from March 1861 to May of 1863. The pattern and colors of this flag did not distinguish it sharply fom the Stars and Stripes of the Union. Consequently, considerable confusion was caused on the battlefield.

You sir are not studied up on history and you have a lot of hate for something you didn't study and was not a part of, or you would understand that it was the governments fault, instead you enlist to kill for them. I do understand that you have learned the lesson they wanted you to learn and for that I am truly sorry, one backwards article and you take that as full 100% proof, I will recommend a book, it is a national geographic book. The name is "eyewitness to the civil war, the complete history from secession to reconstruction" and along with that there is a whole range of other books that are not left or right leaning it is just the facts sorry sir for giving you a down vote but was for the context of how you put it and it just seemed intolerant and hateful sorry again

ok...so Im stupid...educate me...
1. Did rebel troops fire on federal troops at Fort Sumter?
2. did the states secede from the union?
3. did the confederate troops fight, in a war, against the United States Government?
if Im not mistaken...the answer to all three questions is "YES"...ergo...they were rebels...they got what the deserved...worry about the misinformation all you want...make sure you down vote me again...it will make you feel better
