If someone in the NG fails AIT, does the State choose their next MOS, or do you get to choose from a list of any available MOS in the State?

Needs of the Army. Since you are Guard, you may have a voice in selection....but it will probably be a small voice and ignored.

From my experience the school house ask the state what they need. Then provide the list to the soldier. Then the unit and state get together and determine the MOS the soldier will go into.

Bottom line- Needs of the service- Being an NG, it will probably be whatever the States as a body in the MOS, you may or not get any choice. Of course if it is adjustment or AFPT- then it's a discharge.
